Full Moon Ritual: Releasing What Disrupts Your Inner Peace

Because holding onto chaos is so last lunar cycle.
There’s something sacred about a full moon. She rises, bright and bold, pulling tides and truths to the surface. You can’t ignore her light, just like you can’t ignore the things that keep tugging at your energy, asking to be released. The full moon isn’t just a spotlight in the sky; it’s a cosmic invitation to let go.
Let’s talk about reclaiming your peace.
Why the Full Moon?
Energetically, the full moon is the culmination point, the peak of the lunar cycle. Everything that’s been brewing under the surface comes into the light. It’s the perfect time for release, especially when it comes to things that disturb your inner calm: toxic thought patterns, lingering resentments, bad habits, over scheduling, doomscrolling at midnight, whatever’s got you tangled.
Your Full Moon Releasing Ritual
You don’t need much. Just a little intention and a little time. Here's a ritual to help you clear out the energetic clutter and return to yourself.
1. Create Sacred Space: Light a candle. Burn some herbs (mugwort, sage, or lavender work beautifully). Put on music that soothes your soul or takes you inward. Let this be your time. No distractions, no pressure. Just presence.
2. Ground and Breathe: Stand or sit with your feet planted. Breathe in deeply through your nose. Hold. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Imagine roots growing from your feet into the earth, anchoring you. With every breath, invite stillness in. Let your nervous system settle.
3. Reflect with Compassion: Grab your journal.
Ask yourself:
– What’s been disrupting my peace lately?
– What am I holding onto that no longer serves me?
– Where am I resisting rest, joy, or surrender?
Don’t filter it. Write it raw. Let the page hold it for you.
4. Release with Intention: Write each thing you’re ready to release on a small piece of paper. One per slip. Speak each one out loud as you fold it:“I release the need to control everything.”“I let go of the guilt that’s not mine to carry.”“I release comparison, it’s not my path.”
Burn the slips in a fire-safe container (or rip them up if you’re indoors). As the smoke rises, see your burdens lifting. Feel the space opening up inside you.
5. Seal It with Water and Light: After releasing, pour yourself a glass of water or make a calming tea. Hold the cup with both hands and whisper a blessing into it—something simple like “I call in peace. I choose ease.” Sip it slowly. Let the energy of your intention settle into your body.
If you’re moon-gazing, bask in that lunar glow for a moment. Let it remind you: peace is your birthright, not a luxury.
Closing Thoughts...
Releasing isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s subtle, just the decision to put the phone down, to breathe before reacting, to speak kindly to yourself instead of spiraling. These are acts of magic, too.
So when the full moon rises again, let her illuminate what you’re ready to let go of. Not because you’re broken. But because you're clearing the way to come home to yourself.
Let peace be your practice.
